District 6 Newsletter 4/23/25

Dear ,

Spring has sprung! After some pretty serious rain it has been gorgeous: I hope you all have gotten a chance to get outside. For a time when you may be stuck inside, please see below for some District 6 and Metro updates! And please continue to let your friends and neighbors know they can sign up for these newsletters at claycapp.com.

Free Street Trees!

The Water Department has announced a FREE neighborhood street tree program! A group of friends or neighbors, if they identify 20 locations for trees to be planted, can get them for free! And Metro will maintain them for free for two years! This is easier than it sounds and it is an amazing deal that I will frankly say I am so proud of our city for funding. Please see the flyer below for more details, and email me with any questions. Once you’ve got 20 tree locations picked out please email [email protected] (and cc me at [email protected]) to get started! Let’s make District 6 the tree capital of Nashville!

Property Assessment

As you likely know, our city’s Assessor of Property conducts a countywide appraisal every four years, and this is a reappraisal year. New assessments were mailed to everyone on 4/18 and are also available at the Assessor’s website. If you believe your assessment is incorrect you can appeal it — info on that here!

East Bank Boulevard Community Engagement

The East Bank Development Authority will be holding a series of drop-in sessions to take community feedback on the proposed East Bank Boulevard. I am, as always, speaking for a transit-friendly, human-scaled centerpiece to the East Bank, and you can weigh in at the times below (or, if you can’t make it, you can just email me!):

  • Thursday, April 24, 4-7pm, at 299 Cowan Street (Cross Point Church)

  • Tuesday, April 29, at the East Nashville Farmer’s Market (3:30-6:30pm)

  • Friday, May 9, at Fridays by the River (3-8pm, Riverview Pavilion, Shelby Park)

Join me on May 21st!

We are nearly halfway through the Council term, and so it’s time to take stock and plan for the future. Please join me for a re-election fundraiser: hear about the progress we've made in District 6, what’s on the horizon, and how I'm fighting for you on the Metro Council. Your support helps me communicate with the District (including this newsletter), sponsor community events, and get an early start on the next city elections. I absolutely love serving our neighborhoods on the Council!

When: Wednesday, May 21st, 5:30-7:00pm

Where: Butcher & Bee, 902 Main St., Nashville, TN 37206

Hope to see you soon. Yours in service, Clay
