Storm updates 1/31/26

Dear ,

I want to thank again, always, the many of you who have so wonderfully helped neighbors, friends, relatives during this very difficult week for District 6 and Nashville, who have helped me know where resources are needed or electrical fires are happening, etc, and who have through your spirit made this the community we are all so proud of. As parts of the neighborhood are restored to power, that is a relief to many, but it remains even more intensely frustrating for those parts that have not.

A serious frustration for me and many of you with the storm recovery efforts has been with NES not providing specific info about the progress of their work on specific outages. I and many other council members have been pleading for this info all week, and NES has now provided a tool for each home/building to look up the status of its own outage. NES has warned that this tool may be buggy—I believe it was built in two days—so I must pass along that warning as well, but I hope it will be of some help. Please let me know how it works for you and please contine to call and email me with questions, needs, or anything. I will continue to put everything I have into getting help where it is needed and the info that I can until everyone is dug out. We’re all in this together.

The NES “Residential Service Status” tool is available here: https://storm.nespower.com/

One other quick note is that if your power comes back on but you are only getting partial power, please let me know directly so that I can tell NES directly. They have told me they want to fix those brownout situations as quickly as possible.

Warming Station in East

The warming stations around town have given crucial help to many folks, and I want to thank again the many of you who have helped friends and neighbors get to a warm place. Now, Riverside Commons (1211 Riverside Dr) is opening up as a warming station in a location in District 6 that will be more convenient. Please see details below and share this widely with anyone you know who may need it. My great thanks to Riverside Commons for opening up to the community in this way.

Verify your Contractor

With so much repair work needed on homes and businesses around the district, please make sure to check the credentials of any contractor you use for that work. In past weather events there were instances of unlicensed folks offering repairs that were not up to code and running away with the money. Please guard against that and check the license, insurance and credentials of repair contractors or electricians you use.

The Codes department’s electrical inspection team is on call 24/7 and is moving quickly on inspections. Licensed electrician will know how to contact the Codes dept for that inspection.
